This week we shared some of our work with kids in the St. Louis area. Among other observations, I noted that churches in the USA might be a good place to teach endangered languages from other parts of the world.
31 Hours of Driving
Finally after a week of packing and cleaning we are out of Baker and on our trip! 31 hours of driving has put us in St. Louis! Google Map of our route.

Continental divide in Wyoming.

The workout!

Stop at little America.

Preparing for leg stretching exercises upon arrival!
We’ve started…
We started our trip across the country...
We, well I, anticipated a July 1st departure. Lots of complex reasons for the delays. Including moving things out of our house after a temporary rental situation fell through.
Hope fulfilled
Several years ago, I planted blueberries with the anticipation that my kids would be able to pick them. I planted figs with the same hope. Today was the fulfillment of that hope
4th of July cake
Blueberries and currants are both ripe in our garden. So this is our Fourth of July cake chocolate lava cake, whip cream, and fresh berries.
New Audio in Nessa?
Our kids decided to call our 2008 Toyota Sienna "Nessa" which is short for Vanessa... But it is time to upgrade the maps feature and make hands free calling much easier. I'm looking at options but would like to spend less than $1,200. Actually less than $900.
Here are some videos about the process via YouTube
This is the stereo shown in the video: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130AV2550/Pioneer-AVH-2550NEX.html

Crutchfield says though:
Installation notes:
When you replace the factory radio, the factory navigation system won't work anymore.
If you plan to bypass the factory amp, we recommend replacing your vehicle's low-impedance speakers with standard 4-ohm aftermarket speakers to avoid damaging your new radio. If you want to keep your factory speakers, you'll need to add an aftermarket amplifier.
When you replace the factory radio, the factory DVD player will still work, but audio will only be available through the factory headphones.

Awesome kids
For Christmas I got Hugh a puzzle game. This motioning he was following the instructions to arranging the pieces in the suggested shapes. Total cognitive leap.
We went to the Bob Keifer center for climbing, but Hugh was more interested in playing soccer than climbing.
But Katja was all about climbing.
Working the weed removal
We had to do some blackberry removal today. It was encroaching on our fence. We took to the offense by cutting it on the outside of our fence line. It was 7-8 foot tall and some stalks were 1.5″ thick.
We also weeded in the front yard by pulling weeds and cutting down the flowers.

Time got short and we just cut the yellow flowers off
Newish iPhone
After about six years, a screen replacement and three battery replacements it seems like I’ve got a new iPhone. The old SUV is starting to not be able to handle the new apps.
Computing Notebook with command line tools
I have been working on several data science projects which use BASH, Perl, golang, Python, sed, grep, and several command line applications. I would like to move these projects over to something like a Juypter notebook. I would like to create a notebook which has access to all the tools in my toolchain or my workflow.
