Logistics of a trip to Scotland

I have the opportunity to go to Scotland this summer, well for a few days anyway. There is a lot to do; though I have two major areas of interest: 1. the Outer Hebrides & 2. A family historical area in Aberdeenshire. I really don't like being a tourist. This post is a bit of a collection of links about things to and how to do them. I hope to familiarize myself with the place in the hopes of doing something together with my siblings.
